bonus anecdote
van's taken to calling us "rachel" and "john" pretty frequently as of late. it first happened around christmas when john was trying to get my attention at my parents house (lots of people, lots of noise!). the next thing i know, van comes running up to me repeatedly saying, "rachel! rachel! rachel!"
since then, it's happened with increasing frequency. sometimes, it takes place when he doesn't get a response to calling us "mom" or "dad." like when he's in his room last night getting accustomed to his new sleeping situation. from inside the room we hear him calling, "mom, mom, mom!" when he got no response, it became "rachel, rachel!!!! john!"
he also likes to ask, "where did john go?" not even two and already using our first names!
