Our favorite this week + three anecdotes
1- van has recently mastered counting from one to ten. every time he says five and six, he pronounces them "zach" and "zeke" the names of two of his cousins. 2- as mentioned previously, van will only drink water. milk (including the chocolate varieties), juice and any other beverages are quickly refused. however, for some time, he's eaten bites of cereal that john and i are eating. this week, i put some in a bowl for him. after a little bit of eating it, i noticed that every time he spooned up some cereal, he used his fingers to push off the flakes so he could "eat" the milk. go figure - he won't touch it out of a cup but he'll eat milk off a spoon!
3- last night we tried putting van in a bed rather than his crib for the first time. we've been putting it off for a while and finally just decided to do it. for the most part, i think it went really well! however, when i went in to check on him before going to bed, i found that rather than sleeping in his bed, he had fallen asleep laying in the rocking chair instead.
