about time....
although we've been busy, we don't even have a good excuse for our absence from the blogging world. however, despite the stunted growth of our blog, the littlest member of our home has continued to grow/learn/get into things at an alarming rate.
earlier this month, he turned one (how the past year managed to fly so quickly, we'll never know). while he started walking here and there in December, it wasn't until after Christmas that he really figured it out. now he's running.
he loves to walk around the property we manage. he gets excited everytime he has the opportunity to go out the door or say hi to anyone visiting. shortly after this photo was taken, he was soaked after laughing at himself and splashing around in this puddle. he is also quite fearless in the bathtub, frequently putting his own head under the water face first, coming up sputtering and laughing at the same time.

he loves to get dirty. particularly, he likes to just move the dirt around and around with his hands, brushing the ground or whatever to feel the texture of dirt and sand rubbing on his hands. he's recently figured out that we have a small patio and loves to walk in and out through the door tracking dirt, little rocks and whatever else he can find into the house.

lastly, he loves any kind of large, tall-ish sticks/rods/poles/brooms. when said items have been hidden from view the next best thing is the plunger, which we've carefully washed as it is one item we can't seem to keep him away from (or get back once it has been successfully obtained).

Happy Birthday Van!!
We can't seem to keep the plunger away from Brycen either. Why it has to be the plunger I will never understand :) Can't believe our babies are 1 already!!

Is he wearing basketball shorts just like Daddy's? I can't wait to meet Van and introduce him to his cousins. Should be some fun times and great picture opportunities. See you this summer!
